Talks continue today in search of funding for higher education institutions, needed for salary increases, broadcast BNT.
Today's meeting will be held at the Ministry of Finance, and trade unions from the "Higher Education" sector are expected to attend it.
After the protest request of the Council of Rectors, meetings of representatives of the academic community with the president and the prime minister followed. The government allocated BGN 39 million for salaries of teachers and employees in higher education institutions. Thus, the remuneration for the lowest academic position will increase by BGN 290.
The money was voted with the current budget. However, another 184 million is sought after the deputies adopted changes to the Law on Higher Education, but money for them was not provided. After today's meeting at the Ministry of Finance, an extraordinary Council of Rectors will be held tomorrow to decide what their next steps should be.
